Modern Kitchen – Open shelving
Open shelving in kitchens doesn’t seem to be going out of style anytime soon, experts say. “Taking out the top kitchen cabinets is a very popular design trend, because it makes the space feel more open and expansive,” explains Megan Lewis, a building expert with Lowe’s.
Some of the most common items to spot on open kitchen shelves are daily essentials like coffee mugs, plates and bowls. Items like this work well on open shelves for two reasons. First, they’re kept in easy reach, which speeds up your morning just that little extra bit.
Fewer materials and easier installation make open shelving (or floating shelves) an affordable storage option if you want to remodel your kitchen space and also create a more ‘Scandinavian style’.
